Today's motivational pep talk

Entrepreneurs are a rare breed. We tend to suffer from an abundance of self-confidence and we think we have a god-like threshold for pain. Then, the slightest wrinkle of bad news comes our way and we suddenly become mere mortals.

When it all started things were different. We told ourselves there would be highs and there would be lows. We imagined a day when the cupboards would be near empty, when the bank accounts would be near dry, and our hearts would be tested. We held this romantic notion that despite all this, we would prevail. We slapped the label of "Entrepreneur" on our chest and threw ourselves into the tempest having full trust in our instincts and in our abilities.

Then we faced our first test, then a second, and a third, and a fourth, and a fifth... and suddenly the weight of our decisions became the heaviest weight we had ever felt.

Which brings me to this quote: Remember, if you want something you have never had, then you've got to do something you have never done.

There was once a young, spirited, individual who took that first step. This person was confident, strong, and clearly ambitious. Let's not forget this person. He or she wore the badge of "Entrepreneur" with gleaming pride. This person had a want, and did something about it.

So, for those of you who work 20 hours a day, for those who have lost countless pints of blood, sweat, and tears, for those of you who have felt the heavy weight of risk, this is just a gentle reminder that it is time to rekindle that romance with your inner-entrepreneur. Let's not forget how far we have come and why we took this path. We are indeed, a different breed.
